Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting posttraumatic stress, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction of dental hygienists.

Methods: This study included 175 dental hygienists working in the Busan, Ulsan, and Kyungnam areas who completed questionnaires between October 26, 2018 and November 30, 2018. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis with the IBM SPSS 25.0 statistical program.

Results: The amount of workplace verbal abuse experience was directly proportional to the extent of post-traumatic stress, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction among dental hygienists.

Conclusions: Workplace verbal abuse between dentists and fellow dental hygienists, patients, and caregivers should be prevented. This study provides basic data for the establishment of a system that can resolve the problems of dental hygienists regarding verbal abuse in dental hospitals and clinics.
